Hi all, my name is Laura, and I am a Part II Civil and Environmental Engineering student.
Understanding what the civil engineering degree is like is quite straightforward, as it is mostly based on the statics part of ENGGEN 121, although in our second year it also includes geology, surveying, fluids and good old mm2.
My hobbies include reading (the longer the book the better) and playing music (the weirder the instrument the better), and unlike the typical university student stereotype I don’t run on either alcohol or caffeine. I’m perfectly happy to embrace the crazy cat lady stereotype though.
Hopefully I’ll be able to share my experiences as a second year student with you, and give you as much information as possible so you can make an informed decision when choosing a specialization and not struggle like I did (trying to choose between biomedical, software and civil was difficult).
