We’ve reached it. The end of the line, the last stop, the final countdown…
Idk WHY I’m getting so emotional about this! I literally have 2 more years and you guys literally have 3 more years. It only feels like yesterday I wrote my first blog, and now you’re telling me I’m writing my last one?
Well this isn’t really a good time. If you ask any part 2 student out there they’ll tell you that this week has been hell on earth. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were grey hairs on me right now. Literally starting this blog on Sunday and its due…Sunday…guys I promise my time management is good this week has just been horrible.
So what shall I talk about today…aha! I’m sure you guys want to cool down after this semester. It’s surely been really tough for all of us. Today I’ll talk about the steps I’m taking to recover my own sanity. And hopefully, you guys get some wind-down ideas from this blog!
Final bad joke guys π
I asked the lemon what it wanted for dinner.
HE JUST GAVE ME A SOUR LOOK!
No more of these…unless you’re taking CHEMMAT and getting Thomas Loho next sem…
Post-Semester Fish Viewing (And Other Escapades)

I’m sure you guys haven’t seen your non-engineering friends in ages. I, for one, haven’t seen grass in ages. Now that lectures are over, we can finally touch grass!
There’s one person in my group chat (you know who you are…) who’s starting to spam friend group hangout reels, and as much as my wallet is crying at the thought of it, I really wanna do them. Among such discussion are beach “study” hangouts (the hell are we gonna do, draw notes in the sand?!?!) and simply lying on the grass at Albert Park. UGH that sounds good, might start doing that next week.
Me and my D&D group have returned to weekly sessions and I really hope it stays that way mostly. Okay, Dungeons and Dragons might be a massive undertaking but I do recommend it, especially if you aren’t doing any other time-heavy extracurriculars as of now.
Oh, and I went to Kelly Tarltons for the first time in AGES with my girlfriend. Post-Semester Fish Viewing, we called it. And yeah I’d be surprised if there weren’t any fish at, well, The Fish Placeβ’. Other than fish, there was a cool turtle that wanted to square up with us.
I know what you’re thinking. I have enough time on my hands to do all this, hell week must’nt have been that bad right? Let me tell you right now that it was, but sometimes you just need to spend time recharging. My mom was a high school teacher, and she would always tell me that its really obvious when people drain themselves too much before tests (e.g. all-nighters) because they’d spend the entire test starting blankly at the wall.
Don’t drain yourself! In order to motivate yourself for exams you must, well, motivate yourself!
How Many of You Guys Like Making Stuff?

Genuine question. Come to think of it, there isn’t a single hobby out there that can’t be reframed as creating something. Music? making music. Dancing? Making…feelings. Sports? Making…points? Ok I take that back.
Maybe you’re making a feeling. Thats one of the reasons why we do extracurriculars, right? Because we love doing it (unless you’re a diehard Linkedin Warrior who only does things for the sake of their CV…in which case, are you okay?). Do you like playing sports? Maybe you’re chasing the feeling of winning. That’s good (to an extent), chase that goal, hoop, point, shot, whatever!
Or maybe you’re making a physical thing. Maybe you like arts and crafts, or making/performing music. Or maybe you just like building LEGO, like I do. Again, my wallet is really unhappy with me right now but I bought a LEGO set recently and it is now sitting next to me, looking very angry with my financial decisions…
We’re engineers, we like to make things. In your free time, go on and make!
The Final Heading I Will Ever Write
This is probably the final conclusion I’ll ever write blogging for this university…I checked, and they don’t have Part III Bloggers.
I hope this random rambling CHEMMATer has taught you or showed you something cool about the greatest specialisation in the world. Come to think of it, I don’t think I was terrible at this whole blogging thing. Maybe now you know just a bit more about what we do, and just maybe you’re now interested enough in doing CHEMMAT.
if you ended up choosing Mechanical, I’m gonna take that as a win anyway because we pretty much do the same thing with thermodynamics and fluid mechanics. But we’re better because we also do chemical reactions…don’t tell the MECHers I said that…
Well, I can’t say I’ll see you in the next one, so I’ll leave you with a quote from one of my favourite movies:
…and if I don’t see you, good afternoon, good evening and goodnight!
