I Feel it

What now?

So guys, this is it. the end of the semester. Busy labs full of students, now so silent you could hear a needle drop. Emotions rampant, the restlessness from hours of studying, and caffeine influenced sleep schedules, replaced with an uncertainty that won’t go away. These are times that are rewarding, yet fearful. The past few months has been fulfilling, fatiguing, and f-ed up. We’ve been so zoomed in and faithful to engineering, a word that we never truly understood, and perhaps still don’t. It feels like we’ve been going around in circles, but believe me, we are heading somewhere.

Elephant in the room

For two of my courses exams are worth half of the entire grade. Essentially an epitomisation for all the lectures, late night grinds, and time spent on your course, if there was a moment you better perform, this is it. During high school I used to stress about exams, then I realized that doesn’t actually help me in getting higher marks, so I stopped. To make matters worse, we have interviews, and with its duration being so short it can make, or break you. In an exam you have hours to demonstrate what you do or don’t know, but interviews happen in a flash. It’ll be done before you even realize that you’ve started. So to prepare for them, you really have to consistently deliver throughout the semester, and maybe get a bit lucky.

Summer holidays

Some people head into the summer holidays ecstatic, ready to take on their brand-spanking-new internship, and some disappointed with their lack of newly found work. Perhaps for some it even means taking a course during the summer. Luckily I managed an internship, and will be spending a good chunk of my time there. But also I want to recover. Catch up on sleep, ground myself (nature not ground in the electrical sense). Whatever you do, keep yourself busy, and rest up at the same time.

Moral of the story

If there was a key takeaway from all my blogs its that Electrical and Electronic Engineering is suited towards people who are passionate, and interested in this discipline. Throughout all my blogs I did not want to sugarcoat or lie to you guys, as I believe my authenticity and blunt honesty is what provides true insight and value to my blogs. All and all I believe ELECTENG 101 is a good representation of what you might see further down the line if you do decide on EEE. Of course, its the tip of an ice berg, and you’ll discover everything is massively simplified, but nonetheless it is a mere taster.

Final Farewell

First and foremost, I’d like to say a massive thank you to those who read my blogs. I know its not many of you, but I appreciate you guys bearing with me through this never ending journey we call engineering. If you’ve gotten a laugh, a new piece of information, or just felt intrigued reading my blogs I feel like my job is done. With that out of the way i’d like to sign off here, and as Dr William Lee would say “Go well”.
